I've been looking for a healthy yet delicious appetizer and I think I have found the one in this baked sweet potato fries recipe. It's so easy to make yet tastes so nice.
2largesweet potatoespeeled and cut to ¼ inch (6mm) thick julienne strips
2tablespoonsolive oil
½teaspoonfine sea saltor to taste
¼teaspoonfreshly ground black pepperor to taste
1spraynon-stick vegetable cooking sprayor as needed; for baking sheet
Instructions
Before preparing the sweet potatoes, preheat the oven to 400°F / 200°C (220°C fan-forced). Position a rack in the lower third of the oven for the best heat circulation.
Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, or lightly coat with non-stick cooking spray.
Pat the sweet potato strips thoroughly dry with paper towels. Place them in a large mixing bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and toss until every strip is evenly coated.
Spread the sweet potato strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each fry — do not overcrowd. Use two baking sheets if necessary. Bake for 15 minutes, then gently flip each fry using a thin spatula. Return to the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
Season immediately with salt and pepper while the fries are still hot. For a flavour twist, try a pinch of smoked paprika, ground ginger, cayenne pepper, or garlic powder.
