Blend on high for 1–2 minutes until completely smooth and frothy, with no visible ice chunks or papaya fibres remaining. If your blender struggles, stop and push the mixture down with a spatula, then blend again.
Taste the mixture; if desired, adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup to taste.
1 tbsp simple syrup
Pour the papaya punch into glasses that have been chilled in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint, giving the drink a fresh aroma and a pop of color.

Notes
Storage: This drink does not store well once blended — the ice melts and the pulp settles within an hour. For make-ahead, blend everything except ice and refrigerate in a sealed jar for up to 24 hours, then re-blend with ice for 30 seconds before serving.Substitution: If fresh papaya is unavailable, use frozen papaya chunks and reduce the ice by half since the frozen fruit already chills the drink.Sweetness: Taste before pouring — ripe papaya varies widely in sweetness. You may need no simple syrup at all if your papaya is very ripe, or up to 2 tablespoons if it is underripe.Pro Tip: Add the ice at the same time as the fruit and juice rather than after — it helps the blades pull the papaya down and everything blends more evenly.Variation: Infuse the simple syrup with fresh ginger for a spicier, more complex version. Simmer equal parts sugar and water with 2–3 slices of fresh ginger for 5 minutes, then cool before using.Nutrition Note: Nutrition values listed include the optional rum. Without rum, each serving is approximately 105 kcal.
