Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Dog Cake

Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour organic preferred
- 1 teaspoon baking powder aluminum-free
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce ensure no added sugars or xylitol
- ½ cup pumpkin puree 100% pumpkin, not pumpkin pie mix
- ¼ cup natural peanut butter unsalted and unsweetened, xylitol-free
- 2 large eggs cage-free if possible
For the Frosting:
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt full-fat, unsweetened
- ¼ cup natural peanut butter as above
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with a little coconut oil or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and baking powder until fully mixed.
- In another bowl, combine applesauce, pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs. Whisk until smooth and well-integrated.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Don’t overmix—the batter should be thick but uniform.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Smooth out the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is firm and lightly browned.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer it onto a cooling rack. Let it cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, mix the Greek yogurt and peanut butter together until creamy and spreadable.
- Once the cake is cool, spread the frosting evenly on top and decorate with dog-safe treats if desired.

- To make the cake grain-free, substitute oat flour or finely ground almond flour.
